At WolfDen Designz, every piece of jewelry is more than just art-its a story of tradition, respect, and connection to the land.

Our Materials:

-Ethically sourced Hides: All hides-Moose, Elk, or Deer are sourced from local Indigenous hunters and harvested using traditional methods.

-Sustainable Practices; We honour every animal by using as much of the hide as possible, minimizing waste and respecting both the animal and the environment.

-Traditonal Tools & Techniques: Our process is entirely handmade using skills passed down from my grandmother and family Elders.

The Hide Tanning Journey

  1. Harvest with Respect: Each hide begins with a respectful traditional harvest, following protocols that honour the land, animal and our ancestors.

  2. Tanning by Hand: The hide is cleaned, stretched, and tanned using time honoured methods-no chemicals or shortcuts-just patience, knowledge and care.

  3. Transformation: Once tanned, pieces of hide are used for beadwork, jewelry, and other art, connecting the process from land to wearable story.

    Why We Share This Process:

-Cultural Education: Many urban Indigenous youth and community members haven’t had the chance to see or learn traditional hide tanning. We offer workshops and demonstrations to keep these skills alive.
